The Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) campus, for many years a hotbed of science and knowledge, is going through a significant period of transformation. In this reborn science centre at Studentų g. 48A, a new science and innovation space is being born – the Joint Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Living and Working.

The project, which aims to develop a clear vision and action plan, anticipate future needs, formulate criteria for the quality of the area and provide a clear roadmap for the purposeful transformation of the campus, is being implemented in response to the changing needs of students and research.

This redevelopment project marks an important step towards creating a modern, open and inspiring environment where science, studies and business can come together. The Centre will not only be a space for advanced research, but also a platform to foster collaboration between professionals, students and businesses from different fields.

Newly created spaces will be vibrant with life:

  • The Digital Audit and Learning Platform will be located on the basement floor, where state-of-the-art laboratories will serve cutting-edge research.
  • On the ground floor, there will be open, transformable collaborative spaces for training, meetings and creative hackathons, as well as an IT administration.
  • On the second floor, work areas are being designed to allow flexible spaces for both individual and team work.

Architectural solutions such as aluminium composite panels, stucco, an aluminium lath façade system, skylights and a transparent roof made of glass and aluminium will not only give the building a modern feel, but will also harmoniously integrate it into the context of the campus.
