The new headquarters of the Lithuanian National Radio and Television in S. Konarskio Street, Vilnius, is designed according to the principle of harmonious combination of new and existing architecture. The main objective of the project is to create a functional and modern building that will subtly integrate into the urban environment and preserve the historic LRT building and the valuable greenery of the area.

The building is designed in a compact volume, leaving the main historic building in the street layout and maintaining a respectful distance from it. Functionally, the building is divided into clear zones, with various working and recreational spaces with courtyards and terraces for the different LRT departments. The courtyards provide a unique environment for staff recreation and work activities, such as the LTN courtyard with existing trees, the TV department courtyard with outdoor cinema viewing, and the IT department’s glass terrace.

Urbanistically, the new building forms a public space – a television park at the main entrance, emphasising LRT’s openness to the public. Pedestrian and traffic flows are clearly separated, and the functionality of the building is enhanced by integrated sustainable technologies such as solar energy systems, rainwater harvesting solutions and innovative plantation maintenance technologies.

The building’s materiality is defined by perforated metal, glass facades and wood elements, which together ensure aesthetics, transparency and energy efficiency. The project will implement universal design principles to ensure that the building is accessible to all users. This project not only reinforces the image of the LRT institution, but also creates a high quality, sustainable and innovative environment for both employees and the urban community.
