Vilnius public transport (bus) fleet

Liepkalnio g. 111, Vilnius, on a 14.66 ha site, the Vilnius Public Transport (Bus) Park is planned with a main 10,000 m2 garage building, six bus shelters, gas filling stations and tanks, inventory containers, a training area, etc.

The main structure of the bus park is a garage building, which also provides administrative premises. The administrative part of the building is two-storey, rectangular in shape, with an overlapping flat roof. The administrative part of the building has an area of ~ 700 m².

The architectural expression of a building – that which is appropriate to the purpose of the building and which informs the public of its purpose and fulfils its function. The project area is dominated by an industrial – manufacturing context. A solar power plant is being designed on the roof of the garage.

The garage premises dominate the context of the building with its volume, but the administrative part of the building is highlighted by giving it dominance through architectural details and the shape and location of the volume. The long side of the administrative block faces Liepkalnio Street. The main entrance is clearly visible from the street and is functionally linked to the main entrance to the garage and the ancillary staff quarters. The layout of the garage volumes has been designed in accordance with the technological task and integrating the traffic and human movement on and off the site, as well as taking into account the regulations of the functional zones of the Vilnius City Master Plan. The bus fleet will operate gas or electric buses and additionally repair and service diesel and electric buses coming from other fleets in the company’s technical facilities, with the possibility to increase the number of gas, diesel and electric buses in service in the future, as required. The total number of bus parking spaces on the site is 276 units.
