Barracks of the Panemune Barracks and the Military School building complex

A major renovation project has been completed at the Vytautas the Great’s Yeomanry Battalion barracks in Vaidotas Street, Kaunas, with the aim of modernising the special-purpose building and adapting it to the modern needs of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The project restores the functionality of the historic building, preserving and enhancing its valuable features, while ensuring safety and energy efficiency.

The building has been renovated and includes an attic floor with living, learning and recreational spaces. It includes modern work areas, training rooms, weapons storage, rest areas and sanitary facilities. The existing wooden roof structure has been replaced with a new one, preserving the authentic architectural expression and combining it with historical elements.

The project includes all the necessary engineering systems: upgraded electrical networks, heating and ventilation systems, an automated building management system, and new internal and external water supply and sewage systems. The project was carried out in compliance with strict requirements for the protection of cultural heritage, while preserving the building’s original elements.

The renovated building has become a modern and functional barracks, harmoniously combining historical heritage and modern technologies, improving the working and living conditions of soldiers and contributing to the development of the infrastructure of the Lithuanian Armed Forces.
