The Prienai District Municipality commissioned the design of a hotel at the intersection of Birutės and Vytenio St. in Prienai to develop the infrastructure of the Prienai sports arena complex. The building is designed to provide efficient service and short-term accommodation for participants and guests of sporting events.
The hotel building is designed in a split rectangular form, blocking the existing gym building. The cantilevered part of the building above the ground floor common area shopfront emphasises the fragmentation of the building and adds lightness to the volume of the concrete slab façade.
The building is designed as a 4-storey, 26 rooms (13 double and 13 twin). The ground floor is designed to accommodate a reception area, a lounge/breakfast area, staff and technical and support facilities. The ground floor also includes a hotel room for people with disabilities. The other floors are limited to guest rooms.
The ground floor reception area and the corridors on the other floors are connected by an atrium – an open space rising to the roof and ending with a unique corner skylight built into the plane of the roof and facade. This allows natural light to reach all floors of the building. Movement between floors is provided by a central lift and two side staircases with glass facades.
The façades are light-coloured and embossed precast concrete panels. Volumetric accent elements in anthracite are formed around the windows, giving the building a variegated appearance.
