The Mykolas Biržiška Gymnasium football stadium is the first surface-heated sports ground in Lithuania to be lined with surface heating tubes, which are fed by propylene glycol coolant through a separate thermal circuit at the heat point to thaw the accumulating surface snow or ice, thus extending the stadium’s season-long use. The pitch surface is certified according to the FIFA Quality Pro international standard.
The reconstruction of the stadium was carried out in two stages, the first of which involved the dismantling of the existing worn-out sports surfaces, fencing, lighting supports, sports equipment –
, the installation of an artificial heated football pitch with sidelines – 109 x 69 m, and the installation of lighting suitable for a football pitch, installation of substitutes’ benches with rain cover, referees’
area, plastic-coated metal net for the ball catcher, design of the 200-seat stands, installation of storm water drains, drainage and all equipment for the heated stadium surface, installation of a fence surrounding the sports ground, construction of the stadium service building. The second is the reconstruction of two basketball courts, which are also being adapted for tennis and badminton by installing tennis-badminton stands, and the reconstruction of a multipurpose court.
